24 Bible Promises to Help You Fight the Good Fight of Faith

In this post, we’ll look at 24 encouragements to help you fight the good fight of faith.

In our previous post, we discussed what it means to fight the good fight of faith and how to fight the good fight of faith in light of 1 Timothy 6:12.

Why do we need words of encouragement in our fight of faith? Why is it important for us to remember God’s promises as we engage in spiritual battle?

The apostle Peter reminds us in his epistle of the importance of appropriating God’s promises in our Christian lives, saying:

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2 Peter 1:4 KJV)

In this verse, Peter mentions two benefits of appropriating God’s “exceeding great and precious promises,” which are as follows:

  • “Partakers of divine nature”
  • “Escape the corruption that is in the world through lust”

God’s promises help us to live a godly life free of the corrupting influences of sin.

The secret to living a victorious life in Christ is to take advantage of God’s promises and put their principles into practice on a daily basis.

God’s promises encourage us to be faithful in all situations.

Christ was able to withstand Satan’s temptations in the wilderness because He relied on God’s promises. He overcame all temptations by relying on the promises of God.

If we want to win the good fight of faith, we must arm our minds with God’s promises. God’s word, when committed to memory, gets us ready for battle.

That being said, here are the 24 encouragements from the word of God to help you fight the good fight of faith:

1. The Battle Is Spiritual, so Harness Divine Power

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4, NKJV).

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12, NKJV)

2. Be Transformed by Renewing of Your Mind

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:1-2, NKJV)

3. Trust God to Finish What He Began in You

Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; (Philippians 1:6, NKJV)

4. Put Away Anything That Hinders or Easily Entangles You

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us (Hebrews 12:1, NKJV)

5. Continue to Do What Is Right and Good

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (Galatians 6:9, NKJV)

6. Keep Your Eyes on the Crown

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it (1 Corinthians 9:24, NKJV).
Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. (2 Timothy 4:8, NKJV)
And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.(1 Peter 5:4 NKJV)

7. Exercise Temperance in All Things

And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules (2 Timothy 2:5 NKJV).
And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. (1 Corinthians 9:25, NKJV).

8. Keep Pushing Forward

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me (Philippians 3:12, NKJV).

9. Remember God’s Promises

This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,1 Timothy 1:18

10. Hold Fast to Faith and Good Conscience

Having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck (1 Timothy 1:19, NKJV)

11. The Lord Is with You in the Battle

They shall be like mighty men, Who tread down their enemies In the mire of the streets in the battle. They shall fight because the Lord is with them, And the riders on horses shall be put to shame. (Zechariah 10:5, NKJV).

12. Hold Firmly to the Faithful Word

Holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict. (Titus 1:9, NKJV)

13. Delight Yourself in the Lord

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. (Psalm 37:4 KJV)

14. Reach for the Things That Are Ahead

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead (Philippians 3:13, NKJV).

15. Press Towards the Mark

I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:14, NKJV)

16. Long and Yearn for God

As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. (Psalm 42:1, NKJV)

17. Labor and Strive in God’s Power

To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily. (Colossians 1:29, NKJV)

18. Face Opposition With Courage

But even after we had suffered before and were spitefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God in much conflict. (1 Thessalonians 2:2, NKJV)

19. Keep the Faith

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7, NKJV)

20. Let Christ’s Victory Inspire You

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33, NKJV)

21. Nothing Can Separate You From the Love of Christ

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. (Romans 8:35, 37, NKJV)

22. Let Your Light Shine Everywhere

So that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ;  (Philippians 1:13, NKJV).

23. Persevere When Under Trial

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him. (James 1:12 NIV)

24. Serve God acceptably with Reverence

Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: (Hebrews 12:28 KJV)

The above list is in no way exhaustive but it is our hope the above principles will help you to fight the good fight of faith in the Lord’s strength. It is our hope and prayer that these will enrich your walk with Christ.
