The Return to Normalcy - God's Normal

It appears like the "good old days" are gone forever - never to return. Crisis and emergencies are our new normal. Will, we ever return to normal? Was there a "normal" in the first place? If so, how do we get there? How do we return to normalcy - God's normal?

When you look around our world today, the situation is getting worse than tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, cancer, HIV, ebola, and now COVID-19.

Despair, panic, and anxiety are sweeping across the land. The reign of fear is here and is holding men and women captive. It's now more true than ever that:

"Men's hearts (are) failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming to earth..." (Luke 21:26).

The family unit has not been spared either. It is under attack from multiple quarters. Spouse and child abuse are the new normal. Divorce and separation are the new normal. Homeless, fatherless, and motherless kids on the streets are the new normal. It appears everything family is breaking down.

Do you remember the mass shootings at El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio Oregon? Or the Georgia man recently shot and killed while jogging. Taking away innocent lives appears to be the new normal.

The media, politicians, and the thought leaders of our day are stealthily conditioning the society to accept this man-made crisis and tragedies as the new normal.

The church has not been spared either. Favoritism, tribalism, regionalism, nepotism is the new normal. Some churches are now settling scores and differences of opinions with fists and fights.

What about the uncertain future? Can we face it?

We can face the future because we are not alone. God is with us.

The Bible predicts a time when God will intervene in human affairs decisively. The abnormalcy of the new normal will be brought to an end.

"And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened." (Matthew 24:22, KJV).

According to this verse, God will cut short this mess we call our home for the elect’s sake. This means that God will hasten our redemption from the world of sin. A time is coming when God will interrupt and "shorten” the established order of things. God will act swiftly and decisively to restore man and the created order. This will be a 100% return to normalcy - God's normal.

Our key text states that God will shorten these evil days for the "elect's sake" (Matthew 24:22). The days will be shortened for the believer’s sake. God must step in and save His children before evil can triumph over them.

"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more." (Revelation 21:1, ESV)

Everything will be made new. God's new creation will be His initiative for return to normalcy - God's normal.

The good news is that you can also be counted among the elect who will inherit the new earth. Christ secured your salvation on the cross two thousand years ago. All He asks you to do is to let Him into your heart and you will be counted among the elect. That’s all there is to it.

Will you let Him be the Lord of your life? Please, do.

This is one of the best studies of the book of Revelation out there. Stefanovic goes in-depth in this study but explains it in easy language. The book is full of cross-reference to the Bible and several citations from historical and theological sources.

I recommend this book to anyone concerned about the future. It reveals to you "One" who holds the future. The "One" who was, who is, and who is to come - Christ Jesus.
